The perils of too many yes men (or how Dr Dre built a mountain out of a mole hill)

I was inspired to do this write up after seeing the below pictograph

Everyone who follows hip hop has known about the never ending saga of Dre's legendary (or urban myth) Detox album. While some of the leaks such as the TI Reference track "Topless" have left folks drooling, others have severely dissapointed. Music aside, let's not forget the general Dr. Dre "What The Heck Happened To You Man" incidents. Incidents such as these.....

Dre as ManDroid

Dre Does The Heisman

Dre Pimps Dr Pepper

Dre As Baseballguy

He sure does seem to be spending a lot of energy on everything but making music. If this is Jimmy Iovine's plan to build a buzz for the Detox album, Dre lost already.

If he doesn't want to wind up like Axl Rose, endlessly crafting stale music in high dollar studios and believing his own hype, he needs to go get blunted in a warehouse in Compton and make some relevant music again. And get rid of all the yes-men.

Edit: just came across some rare footage of Dr. Dre performing with World Class Wrecking Cru in 1984. Classic west coast electro funk y'all!
