Grunhauser - Clandestine EP - Base Legere

I listen to online files much the same way I used to sort through records back when I was still doing Friday afternoon vinyl runs for the weekend's gigs. Fast needle drops to see if anything took hold, and off to either the listen-again-pile or the put-it-back-in-the-crates pile. It's less engaging doing so in front of this glowing screen, but I love music so much I'd probably wear out the FFW button if music was delivered via Betamax.

I know a record is good when my hand glides off the mouse button for fast waveform skipping. That happened almost immediately with this release by Grunhauser, entitled the 'Clandestine EP' off of Base Legere Records. And it happened with every track.

I rarely deviate from writing about electro music on City of Bass, but I'm making an exception here. Think Underworld under the influence of opium and hash. Think out-takes from the legendary Airdrawndagger album. All from a gray-bearded man in a tracksuit who goes by the name of Grunhauser. This is deep deep electronic music done right. Recommended.

City of Bass picks: 'Clandestine', 'Art of Disappearance', 'When Image Makes No Sense' and 'Nuevo Futero'
