hardware synth inspiration

I don't know why this is, but I am much more creative when working with hard synths that I am with soft synths. If I fire up my hardware synth, or borrow someone elses, I can get lost for hours and come out with 10 song ideas.

With soft synths, I'll noodle around endlessly and maybe get one song idea down in the same time frame. I am curious if this creativity is sparked by being free from staring at a screen and using a mouse - theres a certain aesthic feeling to twiddling knobs and sliders, and not controller knobs and sliders. It's almost as if the hardware synth has a soul of its own, and I am aware of this and connect to it, versus knowledge that the soft synths tied through the PC are 0's and 1's.....
