A couple of days back I did a drop about Electro Fridays and sparked some fond memories from old schoolers about the days of cassettes. Then I found this video interview below with legendary Queensbridge rapper Nas - well worth watching. Further on in the interview, Nasir says "It burns me up that I don't have some of these cassettes anymore", and I totally understand that sentiment - yeah I know I can go download all these legendary tapes now almost instantly, but that s--t just isn't the same. I still remember my cousin taping over some early Miami Bass and Electro cassette I'd gotten through the underground back in the early 90s.. that tape had to travel physically all the way from a studio in Miami, who knows how many copies and dubs and from where, until it landed in Texas and it got passed to me. Man I could have killed him for taping over that, but I digress. Shouts to the old heads City of Bass: blogging daily about the electro music scene. Follow along via twitter or the RSS feed |
