[Rarities & B-Sides] Anthony Rother - Early Years - Warm EP

If you take a close listen to Anthony Rother's first commercially available EP, or at the least the first listed via discogs, you can hear the brilliance that is to come - lush strings, the right dissonant keys, the warmth of the analogue gear he's using.. the percussion patterns he would use so masterfully once he started on the electro path. Hell, you can hear the ghosts of Frankfurt trance past too - not only because he was surrounded by the Harthouse Eye Q scene, but because he set up his studio in the former label offices where Sven Vaeth ruled the roost.

What I find most interesting about this release is that it's almost all techno - and the electro cut he does make here - well let's be honest - the drums sound like they were produced by a fisher price my first casio keyboard. What does that mean for you young producers? Everyone has a change of getting to kopfnicken status.

But all the elements are there - if you're a Rother fan, you will definitely hear him experimenting in the studio, perfecting his technique - knowing what's coming in his later productions makes for some fun listening today in 2012.

I don't think all of the cuts from the 'Warm EP' off i220 Records are up on youtube - if any of you find them please let me know so I can update this post, I'm anything if but a completist.
