[Electro] Franck Kartell - Afterlife - Bass Agenda Records

I've been a fan of Franck Kartell for a while now, and one of his records still plays on loop in my head from time to time, out of the blue, like getting smacked in the head by those wild out kids who play that random punching game. " This - this - this is ... techno funk". I always took Franck as a funky and rough rugged electro beats producer, so I was pleasantly surprised to hear the full length feature 'Afterlife' from Bass Agenda. An album that dives deep into ambient synths, slow beats and wraps itself around your head. Think 1980s lensed through 2014 visions, divided Berlin and grey skies and you're getting the idea.

From a producers stand point, it's not just good ideas and loops getting put down, or even being able to sequence a track into playable form that makes an artist stand out - it's the sound sculpting and all the science of sound that make an artists recordings stand out from the tumultuous pack. Go look and listen to any of your favorite producers and really listen to the sound ... these guys know what they're doing in the studio. Franck Kartell has this in spades, and so you have not only a deep dark electro ambient listening experience to look forward to, but if you are listening on quality headphones or a system your ears will be rewarded.

Available on a limited run of 100 compact discs, lovingly produced by Bass Agenda Records. You can purchase this direct from the label here. I'll add a personal note and tell you this: I get promos all the time because of City of Bass, but I always go and buy records that really grab a hold of me. I did the same for this release, and I can't think of anything else as a stronger endorsement. Respect.
